Andrea
I decided to sponsor Andrea because she is so full of like and joy. The way her face lights up when she talks about school is contagious. She told me how much she loves being there, even though she doesn't life on campus like some of the other students - it's her "regular" school, but she treats it like a gift. Andrea has such a bright future, and I wanted to do whatever I could to help her keep moving forward. I'm grateful for the chance to come alongside her and be a small part of the story God is writing in her life.
Renata
Renata is a gem. From the moment we met, this little girl grabbed my heart. She is so caring, loving, full of joy, and ready to take on each day. We laughed, we cried, we hugged, and I didn't want to let her go. One of the most memorable moments was when we were saying goodbye. Renata grabbed my face, looked at me with her big brown eyes and said , I love you , Mike," in English. I knew I wanted to sponsor her and be a part of her story. God is going to do amazing things in her life and give her a future and a hope. Her dad works at the school and is one of the hardest - working men Ive met. It's a privilege to help carry a bit of the burden of schooling for their family and to watch what God will do in and through Renata's life.
Fernanda, Melodie, and Scarleth
Fernanda, Melodie and Scarlett absolutely stole my heart. The way I saw Jesus thru them just absolutely melted my heart. Ive known Fernanda and Melodie for 3 years and they are just a light of sunshine! This was the first year I got to connect and meet Scarleth and the way me and her connected I knew I had to sponsor her as well. These 3 little girls are just sweet hearts and God is going to do great things In their lives! I'm looking forward to writing letters to each of them and being able to come back next year just to see them and see how much more God is doing in their lives.
One of the greatest blessings of this trip has been seeing firsthand the impact of child sponsorship. We have had the privilege of spending time with each of the children we sponsor this week, and it has been such a beautiful reminder of how God is working in their lives.
Watching their faces light up as they received their gifts and seeing the joy they expressed was something I'll never forget.
Although Melodie doesn't stay at the children's home, her mom works there, and Melodie is part of the school family. Seeing her sing praises to the Lord during the program they prepared for us was such a special blessing. Luz stays at the children's home during the week, where she is safe, cared for, and encouraged. Randy and Miranda live with their parents at the school, and it is evident that God is moving mightily in each of their lives. Seeing how Luz and Randy acted during the skit was incredible. Then the dances by Miranda and Melodie were just as remarkable.
Saying goodbye was much harder than I expected, even knowing, Lord willing, we plan to return next year. The hugs, tears, and heartfelt goodbyes reminded us that sponsorship is so much more than financial support. It is a relationship. These children know they are loved, prayed for, and remembered. Their tears—and ours—were a powerful reminder of how deeply those connections matter.
