Mike and Denise DeLair: A full circle of blessings

A Full-Circle Blessing

This was my third opportunity to serve in Mexico, and God allowed me to see firsthand how He has been working over the years.

The first year I came to Mexico, our team was delivering despensas in the colonia when we met a family with two children. We spent time talking with them and shared information about the opportunities available through Instituto Harvest Hands and Resplandor de Vida children's home. They were especially interested in enrolling their daughter in the school and were so excited about the education and hope it could provide that they came the very next day to register her. She began attending Instituto Harvest Hands shortly afterward.

The second year I returned, I had the privilege of bringing gifts for the two girls my family was sponsoring. It was such a joy to finally meet them in person, spend time with them, and experience the blessing of being both a sponsor and a member of the American mission team. Before leaving that year, I also met a young boy named Randy and his sister, Miranda. After spending time with them, I knew I wanted to sponsor them as well, so we did.

After returning home, I received a letter explaining that one of the little girls we sponsored was moving closer to her mother's family. We were then given the opportunity to sponsor another sweet little girl named Luz.

Fast forward to this year's trip, and what a blessing it was to see all four of the children we now sponsor. We were able to spend time with them, give them gifts, and simply love and pray over them. Their excitement to see me matched my excitement to see them, and it was especially meaningful to introduce Mike to each of them.

During our evening team meeting on the first night, I suddenly realized something incredible. Jasmin and her husband Joshua the parents of Randy and Miranda, were the family our team had ministered to during my first trip to Mexico. They were the family who had come to the school the very next day to enroll their daughter after we shared about Instituto Harvest Hands.

Today, not only do Randy and Miranda attend the school, but both of their parents are serving at Resplandor de Vida. Jasmin faithfully leads the children's dances and skits, while Joshua serves on the nighttime staff. Seeing how God has transformed and provided for this family over the years was overwhelming.

It was one of those moments when God gently pulls back the curtain and allows you to see a glimpse of what He has been doing all along. What began with a simple visit to a family's home, a conversation, and an invitation has become a testimony of changed lives, faithful service, and generational impact.

This experience reminded me that we rarely see the full results of the seeds we plant. God is always working long after we leave. To witness the fruit of those seeds years later was one of the greatest blessings of this trip and a powerful reminder that every act of obedience matters in the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 3:6: "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth." What began as a simple visit to a family's home became a testimony of God's faithfulness. We planted a seed, others watered it, and years later God graciously allowed us to witness the harvest. It was a beautiful reminder that no act of obedience is ever too small when placed in God's hands.
